Travel Tips For Your Holiday Vacations

Medan

The holidays can be quite hectic but they are often a time when people travel to see family and friends or to take their vacation. Following these basic tips will help make sure you have the best time when you travel during this time of year. Being prepared for things to go wrong is the key in minimizing the damages and getting on with your holiday travel plans.

Make sure you have all of your tickets and confirmation numbers in a specific place. It is a good idea to make a copy of the information as well as the contact number for your tickets and place it in another location. This way if you lose the originals you will have enough information to take care of it. You should call about a week before your travel dates to make sure your reservation is still active for all modes of transportation and your accommodations.

It is common for flights, trains, and buses to get delayed over the holidays due to security issues, weather, and trying to meet the needs of the volumes of people using such modes of transportation over the holidays. Ensure you have enough of food, drinks, cash and all the necessities to get you through these delays. They can range from a couple of hours to a few days. If you will be traveling a long distance you should consider bringing with you games to pass the time, especially if you are traveling with young children.

If you bring with you prescription medications you should make sure you have them clearly labeled. You may get questioned about them if they aren’t in the bottle you picked them up at from the pharmacy. It is a good idea to have a written note from your doctor regarding the medication as well. Makes sure you have enough of it for the entire vacation including any delays that may occur.

Lost baggage is one of the biggest problems when people travel, and it happens most during the holidays because of how busy everyone is. While you really cannot always prevent your suitcase from getting lost, you can do your best to make sure you have all you need in the mean time. Remember to make sure each person traveling has their clothing in all of the luggages instead of only one luggage for each person. This way everyone will have a chance to have some items should a suitcase get lost in the shuffle.

Clearly identify your luggage so that you will be sure to get yours upon reaching your destination. Too many bags look the same and many people are in a hurry when they travel for the holidays. Place a colorful ribbon or colored tape on your bags if you carry the styles and colors that are very popular. If you travel very often you should consider a unique looking luggage that stands out.

Traveling during the holidays needs to be as smooth as possible to ensure you will enjoy your trip. By taking the time to follow these tips you can help make that happen. There are plenty of horror stories out there about people not being able to get to their destination for the holidays or they didn’t have the items they needed upon arriving. Don’t open the door for your vacation travel to fit into this grim category.

Why You Should Travel Now

Everyone dreams of traveling but most people don’t do it. Fear keeps most people from traveling. When I first went away in 2006, people always wished they could do what I was doing. For some people it is easy to [just]quit and [go] travel. We have it in us all along and we just need a gentle nudge. For me, all it took was a trip to Thailand and jealousy before I was quitting my job and telling my friends I was going to travel. For many people it can be hard. They are more tied down, more afraid, more uncertain. They want to do it but, instead the nudge I needed, they need a full on push.

If you are looking for reason, here aremgood reasons to travel around the world:

There’s a recession. With the world economy in a tailspin and companies slashing jobs, there is a lot of economic uncertainty in the world. Avoid it all. Go travel. If you quit your job, sell your stuff and travel, you won’t have to worry about it. In fact, prices are dropping as the tourist industry tries harder to get people to go overseas. Come back when the economy is better. Let others worry while you go out and have fun.

You see new people everyday. There is not a day that doesn’t go by where you don’t meet people from all over the world doing the same thing you are. You’ll meet locals who will take you around and open their homes and city to you. What more can you ask for in life than meeting wonderful people and creating a network of friends that encompasses the globe.

It’s better than working. Working is work. Sitting behind a desk for eight hours, commuting to work, worrying about bosses and reports is not our idea of a good time. Let’s face it, between worrying about next month’s budget or sitting on a beach in Asia, everyone would choose the beach. So get out of your cubicle?

You learn about other cultures. The world is a big place and globalization has made it much more complex and interconnected. You’ll never begin to understand all the other players in the world or why people do what they do by sitting at home. Traveling will teach you about other cultures and people and make them more than just a face on the news.

You discover new things about your personality. Travel helps you figure out what makes you you and what you really like or dislike. Alone, you must suceed. You have to adapt to your surroundings, meet other people, make your own decisions, and plan your life. You’ll make everyone jealous. Let’s face it- everyone wants to travel the world but few people do. Do it and make everyone at home jealous of you, your stories, and your photos. While they work all day, you explore the world.

Because, like Yoda said, do or do not. Why spend your life thinking about what might be when you can just do it. It’s not that hard to travel you just have to have the will to do it. Don't have regrets- get up and get traveling. NO ONE ever regrets a trip like this. NO ONE. T

raveling around the world is a life changing experience. There’s no reason not to go. There is no big secret on why to go. Go travel. Even if it’s for a week, or a month, or a year. See the world. You only get one chance [at life]. Make it worthwhile.
