Holiday Travel Tips

Medan Indonesia

So many people travel for important holidays that you may be quite disappointed with the cost of it. There are great ways you can save money though whether you are traveling by plane, train, or bus to get to your destination for the holidays. It is essential that you book your travel arrangements early. You don’t want to be stuck without a way to get where you want to be for the holidays due to everything being sold out. You also want to take some time to compare prices.

You will find some travel dates should simply be avoided around the holidays. This will allow you to avoid crowds which often equal substantial delays. You will also be able to get the same travel arrangements at a lower price just by carefully calculating the best times to travel.

You may be surprised that Valentine’s Day is a top travel holiday but it is. It is very important for people to be able to spend this holiday together. Since Presidents Day is very close to Valentine’s Day many people are able to take a long weekend. Avoid traveling during this Monday holiday and you will save money. Instead fly out in the next few days and then stay for a couple of days after Valentine’s Day instead of before.

Spring break takes place for about three weeks in March depending on which schools people are attending. If you plan to travel for spring break you need to plan it very carefully to maximize your time and to get good prices. Many colleges allow people to complete their final exams early. Try to do this and travel on a Wednesday or Thursday. Avoid peak days such as Friday and Saturday. You also want to come back on week days as they will be lower volume dates for travel.

Many people fly to see their parents for Mother’s Day and for Father’s Day. These are important holidays that take place on a Sunday in May and then on a Sunday in June. Traveling on the actual day will save you money over flying out on the Friday or Saturday before. This way you can arrive on their special day and stay around for several days. Your return trip should be for one of the weekdays after the holiday instead of on the weekend.

Thanksgiving is a common holiday that people travel for. Since it always falls on a Thursday, most people get an extended weekend so they can go visit for a few days or take a vacation. The highlight of this holiday for travel takes place on the day before Thanksgiving. However, if you are willing to travel on Thanksgiving Day you can avoid the crowds. You will also find you save up to 50% of the price of getting there just by waiting less than 24 hours.

Most people return from their Thanksgiving vacation on the Sunday following the holiday. Try to avoid this day as well and return on the following Monday. Most employers want some people to be in the office on the Wednesday before so offer to do it in exchange for having the following Monday off.

Christmas is another peak travel season, and you will find the fares get much higher the closer it gets to the 25th of December. Try to travel before the 19th in order to take advantage of the best possible fares. If you won’t be able to stay through New Year’s then choose a day in the middle of the week after Christmas. These are often slower days than the weekends and you will get better prices.

Avoid travel on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day as they are two of the most popular travel dates of the year. Fares are usually double what they normally cost so you will save yourself plenty of money and delays if you work around them on your travel.

For those interested in traveling to Danau Toba Indonesia , the largest crater lake in the world in Medan North Sumatra Indonesia, remember to avoid traveling during the festive months of Idul Fitri, Ceng Beng and School Holidays. The Fasting Month of Rahmadhan

Medan North Sumatra

Rahmadhan Month in Medan Sumatra Indonesia

There are several issues that visitors need to be aware during the fasting month when traveling to Muslim countries such including Medan Indonesia.

Ramadan, the fasting month, is an event of great importance to the Indonesian and the world’s Muslim community. Being one of the five pillars of Islam, observance of the fasting month is the priority in the devout Muslim’s life during this month. Fasting involves a change in the daily routine of the Muslim faithful and represents an expression of their deep belief to God.

Many Indonesians look forward to fasting during Ramadan and take it as a chance to test and develop their inner, spiritual selves. The fasting regimen is rigorous. No drinking, eating or smoking is allowed after the first prayer in the morning until the opening of the fast in the evening.

Prayer times change based on sunset and sunrise, so the exact time will be different every day. The morning prayer usually comes around 4.30 AM. Before this time, a Muslim family must rise and eat their last food or drink that they will have for the next fourteen hours.

The opening of the fast, or Buka Puasa, occurs around 6.00 PM in the evening. At this time, all fasting Muslims will break the fast by drinking, eating and attending prayers. Expect restaurants to be more packed than usual especially those that are serving Indonesian or local food as many families may not cook for this breaking fast period.

During this time, you may noticed that some restaurants may be closed or are opening discretely with curtains covering up windows of restaurants during the fasting time. This is a sign of respect for those who are fasting.

You can see an example of a picture taken at www.MedanKu.com where restaurants have prepared curtains to cover up the windows including fast food chains for Rahmadhan.

Other ways visitors should do as a sign of respect are:

* Be discreet when eating. Do not to eat or drink in public places except for restaurants.
* Be observant and do not offer food or drink during the fasting hours to those who are fasting.
* Be respectful and do not showcase your own food or drinks in public.
* Be empathetic and tolerant as you may find energy levels of those who are fasting to be low which may affect service levels and poorer performance.

Medan maybe unknown to many international travelers. It is the third largest city in Indonesia and is famous for having the largest crater volcanic lake in the world known as Sumatra Lake Toba

Get A Tour Of Another World With African Safari Holidays

African safari holidays

The African continent is a land that offers some of the most exotic, natural scenic beauty found anywhere on the planet. The inhabitants of the African continent are also a real treasure and in many areas of the country you will discover people and cultures that are still untainted by the modern world. The combination of the people, the landscapes and the wildlife of this vast land has the power to enchant and mesmerize those who take African safari holidays.

There are a myriad of interesting countries on the African continent that are more than capable of hosting memorable vacations and provide daring, exciting, and even alluring wildlife safari experiences. These African safaris will captivate your attention and perhaps even test your nerves. Some of the most popular countries that people visit on African adventure safaris include: Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and several others.

Such African safari holidays give those with an adventurous spirit the chance to “rub shoulders,” from a safe distance, with an almost unimaginable assortment of wild animals and to observe them in their natural habitat. Under the careful guidance of an experienced safari guide, you might also be able to get close enough to the animals to capture some photographs that will be treasured for the rest of your days.

An African safari holiday is one of the main tourist attractions and sources of revenue for a number of African nations. Those who are interested in an African safari travel adventure will have many options for making the appropriate arrangements to set up an opportunity to mingle with wild beasts. However, there is certainly an element of danger when undertaking wildlife safaris because you are not entering into a land of tamed and controlled beasts.

Many people forget this fact when they are planning and preparing for an African safari holiday and have a tendency to think that perhaps they are just going to visit an enormous zoo exhibit. But, the animals that will be seen and observed during wildlife safaris are just that; wild. Because of this it is extremely important that your African travel includes the services of a trained and experienced safari guide.

A safari guide who knows the area and the wildlife in the area you will be visiting will make sure to take all appropriate precautions to make sure that you and the party you are traveling with will be safe during the safari. An inexperienced guide, or one who is more interested in charging someone extra money to provide them a “thrill,” rather than safety, can put you in danger and such guides should be avoided at all costs.

The African safari holidays that are well planned and which are headed up by experienced safari guide companies will give you an escapade that you won’t soon forget. Just imagine the adrenaline rush of seeing the likes of elephants, gazelles, gorillas and lions just yards away and of knowing that you are fully engaged in their world. The sensations you experience will stay with you for years to come.

People who love to admire various types of architectural design often make a special effort to plan a trip to Amsterdam so that they can see for themselves the wonderful buildings of the 17th and 18th centuries. These colorful edifices are marked by multiple gables and intriguing facades on house residences, businesses and even an Amsterdam hotel or two.

One of the most famous and often visited tourist attractions is the house where Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazis during the Second World War. Other people find themselves intrigued by the liberal attitude of the city and find it fascinating to wander through the Amsterdam red light district where prostitution is openly, and legally, marketed.

Because Amsterdam is a rather compact city, it is possible to make your accommodations in a centrally located hotel and be able to quite easily take in all of the sites either on foot or by taking a leisurely ride through the canals to different districts. Amsterdam city is considered to be a walking city and most people can easily get to their destinations on foot. Because it is also a very flat city, bicycles are also very popular and there is an efficient system in place for locals and visitors alike to rent bikes.

Any quality hotel in Amsterdam will have a helpful staff that speaks very good English and will be happy to answer questions and direct you to particular points of interest or recommend a favorite local hangout for a drink or a meal. In addition, Amsterdam has an extensive network of tourist and tourism information centers which are always ready to help people make sense of their Amsterdam travel and tourism options while they are in town. These tourism information centers have loads of information about the local attractions, events, festivals, museums, sightseeing opportunities, and they can also provide tourists with an Amsterdam map to help locate anything else that is happening that might capture the interest of the visitor.

Some people are quite surprised to discover that the city of Amsterdam is considered to be the 4th most visited city in Europe, in terms of tourism, and ranks right alongside of the magnificent cities of London, Paris and Rome. Every year there are more than 2 million foreign tourists, and an almost equal number of Dutch tourists, who make their way to this city. Making your Amsterdam hotel reservations early is strongly advised, as this will give you the best choices for accommodations in this popular destination.
